This Brit has Happily Adopted Thanksgiving

“I wish you all a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday with people you care about”

As a Brit living in the U.S. for more than six years now, I’ve happily jumped on the bandwagon for most of the American holidays. (Though I have to say, some of them confuse me. Like Groundhog Day. Who is Phil and what does he know about long-range weather forecasting? And did people actually celebrate National Pickle Day this week?)

Anyway… one holiday I’ve particularly enjoyed adopting is Thanksgiving. All the delicious food aside, it’s wonderful to have an official day to stop and think about what—and who—we’re thankful for.

As always, I’m grateful for the love and support of my family and friends. And this year, I give additional thanks to them and to the colleagues and clients who’ve been so supportive as I’ve made my move into entrepreneurship. I am so excited to move into 2017 with a new business. That means more time with clients, current and new, and more exhilarating business events and challenges to dive into.

I wish you all a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday with people you care about, in a place you enjoy, and with a plate bountiful in many more ways than turkey and stuffing!

I will be away from my family, but will be joyfully in the company of friends. (Wearing comfy and stretchy trousers.)

To my American friends and colleagues, have a wonderful Thanksgiving. To my family, friends, and colleagues abroad, I’ll be thinking of you with extra fondness on Thursday.
